MEDITATION CAN PREVENT PREMATURE AGING
When we meditate, our brain stops processing information as actively as usual. As a result several things happen:
Our frontal cortex—the part of the brain responsible for reasoning, planning, emotions, and self-awareness—becomes less stimulated, which can make us feel detached.
Our parietal lobe—the part of the brain that processes sensory information and orients us in time and space—is deactivated, which can cause time to seem to slow down or speed up.
These two neurological effects can lead to a significant reduction in stress and anxiety when we meditate.
Meditation can improve the appearance of skin by addressing stressors that cause many common skin care problems, such as premature aging, eye bags, acne, and redness.
Meditation can prevent skin aging. According to researchers, meditation can protect your telomeres (the protective caps at the ends of your chromosomes), which in turn can increase your resistance to skin cell aging.
Meditation can reduce dark circles under the eyes. Meditation may be able to reduce the appearance of dark circles under the eyes by increasing oxygen flow in the body. Because we tend to breathe more deeply when meditating, this delivers more oxygen and nutrients to the skin, thereby increasing blood flow and improving cellular health.
Meditation can improve skin tone. Stress affects the skin's outer protective layer, reducing its ability to retain moisture and repair itself, and can cause problems such as acne, rosacea, psoriasis and eczema. It turns out that our skin also feels itchy when we are stressed because our body sends nerve signals that cause us to itch. If we respond by scratching or picking, this will further increase the swelling and redness. By reducing stress levels, we can prevent inflamed and itchy skin.
